End of Spring 2025 Semester Event
Graduates of the Global Majority Dinner and Dance Party
Wednesday, May 21, 2025
5:30 PM - 10:00 PM
The Connector, 禁漫天堂 Campus
You may be asking: What are the People of the Global Majority?
If you have ever been referred to as an 鈥渆thnic minority鈥 then you are most likely a part of the Global Majority which includes Black and Brown people, Asian, Latino/a/e or Hispanic, Indigenous, and people of color, multi-racial, Arab and Middle Eastern, Hawaiian and Pacific Islander, and indigenous to the global south.Since people of color make up the majority population in the world, using the term "global majority" empowers and reclaims our identities in a globalized context.
All students (not just seniors), regardless of race/ethnicity, are welcome to celebrate our graduating students of the global majority, so please invite your friends to eat and dance. Dinner will be provided by Up Street Smoke, and music by DJ Young Champ. There will be a photo booth and dessert bar. This event is free!
What to expect? At the start of the event, there will be a Pinning Ceremony recognizing the graduates of the global majority, the culmination of hard work and perseverance through academic hurdles. This ceremony represents pride in heritage, global solidarity, and a multifaceted journey from ancestral roots to the celebration of graduation and beyond. This ceremony is about 30 minutes long. Graduates will receive a pin and a ceremonial gift. If you identify as a Graduate of the Global Majority, RSVP so we can account for your presence in the Pinning Ceremony.
